Introduction
Welcome to the Parish of Winfrith Newburgh and East
Knighton in glorious Dorset.
Winfrith Newburgh is a large parish located between
Dorchester and Wareham on the A352 about 3 miles west
of Wool. In the census of 2001 the village had a
population of 718. This number is greatly increased by the
large number of visitors to bed and breakfast and holiday
cottages etc as this area is close to a great many of
Dorset’s attractions.
Surrounded by rolling countryside, within this designated Area of Outstanding Beauty and the World
Heritage Jurassic Coast, this is a truly wonderful location.
Stroll around the many beautiful walks in the countryside on our doorstep. You can also experience the
spectacular views of the South West Coast Path on the nearby Jurassic Coast.
Winfrith Newburgh is the perfect destination for either a short day trip or, by selecting one of the many
accommodation outlets in the area, you can extend your stay to experience some of the many wonderful
sights and views on offer in this beautiful, unspoilt part of Dorset.
So spend some time in looking through our site, using the links at the top of the
page.
Whether you are a parishioner or a visitor we hope you find this site informative
and useful. We have tried to ensure that we have covered everything of interest for
