Winfrith Newburgh has a wide and varied selection of clubs and interest groups to suit all tasts. These are attended by not only villagers but in many cases by people from surrounding villages.  Likewise, Winfrith villagers also attend clubs and groups in other nearby villages.  Currently the following groups/clubs are active in Winfrith: Winfrith Drama Group This is a thriving amateur dramatic group who put on a number of shows each year.  Visit their  website at:  www.winfrithdramagroup.org (opens in new window) to find out more about this  lively and active drama group.  Winfrith Cricket Club Formed in 1987, the club celebrates its 25th anniversary this coming year. The ground is situated on the village sports field, behind The Red Lion public house, WNCC prides itself in actively supporting all ages, abilities and genders. We are members of The Dorchester and District Evening League for the more competitive amongst you, running 2 league teams. For those of you who prefer the game at a slightly slower pace, we can offer both evening and weekend friendly fixtures. The club also has a pro-active youth section and from time to time runs coaching sessions. We are also recording memories of what is was like to live  around here years ago.  We hold meetings and open afternoons where we display what we have collected. We have  organised walks around the village talking about the houses and the people who lived there. Starting at 6 p.m. and finishing 7 p.m. Friday evenings at Winfrith Village Hall. Ladies Friendship Circle We meet on the second Wednesday each month at Winfrith Village Hall at 2 p.m.  It’s only once  a month, it’s lovely to meet old friends and we are always very pleased to meet and welcome  new friends. We call it the “Ladies” Friendship Circle because there are so many ladies who  have lost their loved ones - how graeful those of us in the Circle are to still have ours.  We go out  for lunch and cream teas throughout the year.    For more details contact Daphne on 01929 462950  Art Classes On Monday mornings from 10.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. there are art classes held in Winfrith Village  Hall.  All abilities are welcome and yoyu can work in any medium you like, from watercolour to  oils.  Tuition is given by an experienced art tutor in a relaxed and friendly class.  For more information phone 01305 784632.  Gardening Club If you have an interest in gardening, from plants to design to just an enjoyment in your garden,  come along and meet like minded people at Winfrith Village Hall on the 4th Tuesday of the month. We meet most months of the year, with speakers on all sorts of gardening subjects.
